The scooter won this one…

It’s been months since I posted last – guess I’m having a hard time making this blog thing a priority!  I love looking at all of your blogs, laughing, smiling, coveting a bit, envying your creativity.  Then I turn off my computer, go about my day and forget about it all.  Oh well, maybe it’s not my thing – I can think of much worse things that I don’t do than keep a regular blog….. much worse things.  no, I won’t share them.
Here’s my Lukey after yet another trip to the ER – amazingly enough, this was his first time with stitches.  7 big fat juicy ones.  I couldn’t watch, it was much to nauseating to me.  Lucky for me, Chris was able to meet me at the hospital to take on the role of the “strong one” while I sobbed in the waiting room listening to Luke scream while I beat myself up for not making him wear his full face helmet.  Not sure if I will ever let him walk out of the house with out it from now on.
We had a great FHE tonight talking about promptings of the Holy Ghost.  I shared with Luke and Mikey the prompting I had while throwing all the gear into the car on the way to the skate park.  It went something like this – “Luke should wear his full face” and I thought “hmmmm, yeah, but Mikey wants to and I don’t want to start a battle.”   “OK, but he really should be in his full face, that is why you got it for him.”  Ignored.  Bad Mom moment.  Lesson learned.  How do you look at your 5-year-old (with a smashed, bruised, cut-up face) and say “Mommy didn’t listen to the Holy Ghost, and that is why you had to have shots and stitches and scream at the doctor in the ER.”
Luke had another battle with his scooter and lost. Friends of mine tell me he needs to find another mode of transportation.... I just tell him to never stop jumping, just wear his full face helmet next time.

Honestly…. I can’t take this kid anywhere!

Truly, I am not even exaggerating when I say that I turned around to make sure Luke was following me, and he was CLIMBING THAT POLE!!!  The tricky part was getting him to stay there long enough to take a picture.  I had no idea that 5 years ago I gave birth to a MONKEY!  But a monkey he is, an i have to remind him all day long such things as  “No, Lukey, throwing golf balls in the house is NOT a good choice” or “Maybe you should wait for Mommy to get Keaton out of his crib instead of doing it yourself” or “You really need to keep your clothes ON your body when you are playing with girls.”  HONESTLY!  I fear for the teenage years…..

A perfectly typical Sunday afternoon for the Kurtz family today.  church, naps, roast dinner, basketball in the couldesac and a hike on Mt. Burdell.  Perfection.  So here, I present to you Luke’s cutest bum.  One day he will hate me for publishing such a thing, but for now, I can’t resist.  Happy Sunday!the world is my toilet

So,  Mikey and I had an interesting conversation today.  Yes, it’s true, we talked about how babies are made.  Hey, he asked, and he wanted details!  So I found myself using words like “special” and “beautiful” and sounded totally like a parent.  My parent.  Argh!  When did he grow up?  Needless to say, he was a bit mortified but took it all quite well.  I asked if he had any questions, and he just asked if I would play Mario Kart on the Wii with him.  OK, over I guess.  Not so bad.  I fear for the same conversation with Luke…..

A-blogging I will go

Here I am, 11:49 p.m. watching Beau pace the floor as he listens to the raccoons outside  the door pillaging his food bowl.  I guess now is as good a time as ever to start a blog.  I feel the peer pressure and I cave.  Everyone is doing it.  Just try it.  You’ll like it.  I will never be as good as Hailey or Molly at this – trust me.  My life isn’t very enchanting really, just normal.  I live with 4 stinky boys – 5 if you count Beau, the stinkiest one of all.  But where I lack in enchantment, I make up for in liveliness.  There is never, ever, ever a dull moment in this small and ridiculously expensive house, for that I am certain.  So, for those who visit – and even care – here goes the tellings of life with stinky boys….
